So I am rehoming my Royal Clown Knife as My spotless golden has been quickly out growing him and harassing him too much- so I feel it is best for him to find a new home. I am being VERY choosey with whom I pick to take him and a couple PM'd me about putting him in a 125 with African cichlids. I asked them what PH they are running and they said 7.5. I read the CK info sticky and it said 5.5-7.0 and I was wondering if higher ph is ok.

I am reluctant to give him to someone with a 125 (though it is better than other people with 55s that want him) Because I know that in less than a year, I am upgrading to a custom 300-400 gal in the new house. BUT- I can not be sure that these people will be able to upgrade to larger. UGH... maybe I will just keep him. He is only about 8-9 inches right now, I might just set up my 90gal again and let him have that to him self (maybe a couple of polys too!) for a while. he should be ok in there for a few more months at his size.

the Ph Q still stands though... what is TOO high? Thanks!!

Most fish can be kept in a wide range of pH levels, the only thing that matters is that you acclimate it to the new water. Some wild caught fish may not do as well in drastically different pH levels, but most other fish should be fine if you acclimate them.

They aren't too particular on pH. It should be fine. Just do a drip acclimation and it should be fine. However, keep Knives with Cichlids can be hazardous to the Knife as it may get picked on.

Ok cool. I found a guy that has a 300 that he is setting up (upgrading from a 150) so I am going to go see it this weekend. COOL! Anyhow... I think he is going to keep the RCK and a couple other big fish with him like an aro or two in the old 150. So I am sure this will be a good home for him!! Thanks for answering the Ph thing, I just wanted to make sure he would be ok in slightly different ph levels. Thanks!
