I seperated my pair of RD's due to some fin nipping and such. Their fins are healing rapidly, but the places where they've healed up are growing in clear, while the rest of the fin is orange. Are they likely to eventually to go back to orange like the rest of the fin, or stay clear? Anyone know?

It might just need some time to get the pigment back in the healed spots, but its definitely possible that it will just stay white. RD's change colour a few times while growing up anyway...my adult Midas has a lot of white in his fins, which have never been torn or wounded, that he just delevoped about a year ago (he's about 3 years old now).

Interesting. Never had RDs before these guys, and they were given to me with a tank. Now that you mention the color changes, when I was first given them they were both solid dark orange. I have noticed that since I've seperated them, they've both lightened in color to a more creamy orange with a much darker mask becoming apparent over their eyes. The male is about 10" and the female 8", I'm not sure how old they are. I knew they changed colors as they got older, but I figured they'd likely have their adult colorarion by now. Normal?

I hope the pigment comes back in their fins.
