My rd started fading in December. It's fins started getting black streaks and the spots on it flowerline turned dark for the first time. It has been in with my 13" jag in a 135 gal. over a week ago with a divider up and the rd occupies about 1/3 of the tank. Since it has been in there it has shown no fear of this monstrous fish and the fading has been progressing more rapidly along with overall growth of the fish. It has somewhat of a kok but I'm not convinced it is a male. I posted pics of it's vent in another thread(4 day kok growth!) hoping someone with more experience sexing could confirm m/f. Well it seems to be in spawning mode tonight as it is swimming around and back to a piece of clay drain tile. It looks like to me it's cleaning this area for a moment then gets over top of that spot and rubs its vent area there. It's stomach area is very plump but hasn't dropped eggs but I'm thinking it's a female going through the motions. I know alot of fem. fh's can have relatively large kok's but I'm not sure this behavior is fem. What do you think? Here are some pics of it. It's face and kok are turning from grey/green to a peach color!

for me i'd say it was female, i mean that just my oppinion, but from the vent sticking out. its kinda fattish, males have a more slimmer pointier vent. so i think you might be right to say its female. Nice fish btw, i really like it :) possibly why the kok is like that, slight bulge but not quite sticking out. very nice

Thanks guys!! Her tube is sticking out even farther today. No eggs yet. Has a slight curve forward. I know for a fact my jag on the other side of the divider is a male. Not trying to breed just biding time till I get fish situated to more permanent homes.
