I just picked up a RD/Midas of about 1.5" today. He/she is a mix of orange and white. It was the only one in the tank of about 30 that wasn't a solid colour.

What are the chances that it will stay multicoloured???? Especially interested in answers from those that picked up young fish coloured like this and their experiences of the fish growing up.

Thanks,
Burt:)

From my experience it will either turn mostly white, if as it grows the yellow will just keep faiding or it will be half white or half yellow.
From the look of that pic, theres no way of knowing. It might turn from yellow to orange color with whites all over.

should remain multicolored.
not sure how intact the current pattern will remain though

The devil will remain multicolored but the patteren may change and the black spots around the mouth should dissapear by the time it's 3-4" somtimes orange will turn to white or vise versa but it will hold it's marbled apperance.

I got both of my RD's relatively small. They maintain the multicoloring. However, the pattern will change as the fish grows. I think the white areas remained white and the orange areas orange, they just spread out with the size of the fish, which give the appearance of change in pattern. IMHO.
