My brother is giving my other bro a 40G breeder tank (36x18)
The brother who is getting the tanks is inlove with red devils/Midas and he wants to put one in here. The R/M will live here alone the tank has good filtration with a 20% WC < maybe more when it grows. We r going for a Female if we can find a larger one if not i will try my best to sex a female even though it is difficult. Thanks in advance.

I have a single male that lives in a 55, same footprint as a 40. He is almost as long as the tank is wide at this point though.

Nothing over 10" is going to work well in a 40G, Forget the big predatory Cichlids.

If I had a 40 I'd do a pair of Firemouth, but that's just me. Perhaps a single male Salvini or a pair of Severum would do nicely.

yea 40 gallon is not suitable for a RD, Japes has some good suggestions though

you could get away with a female uro/mayan a male would get to big a true red terror would get to big as we'll a male true red terror would get way to big

ever heard of istlanum a female would be fine for a while or try bartoni or mabye a grammode
