its a secret
ok i have 4 RBP and 3 of them ganged up on 1 of the other ones. the one they picked on only has 1 eye, it got damaged when they were younger. i was just wondering what are the chances after he heals up, of him being re-intoduced back into the tank and making it, or do you all think that they are going to pick on him all the time due to his 1 eye? i really dont want to have to get a different tank to hold just the one fish casue the other might kill him
thanks
Rob

you can only really try it, i would keep an eye on them for a while and change decor around do water change or something before adding it back into the fold.
i always did this before adding new piranha into an existing piranha tank.
the decor change removes any territory formed and the waterchange disrupts the normal things they do and distracts them along with cleaning the water of course.

ok ill give it a try, i got a couple weeks of healing for him to do first. it seems like they really took advantage of him not having the one eye casue they beat him up pretty good on that one side. but as i was trying to net him to put him into the hospital tank, he still had some spunk, he chewed through 2 nets before i got him in the other tank...LOL

well his usuall diet is talipia fillets, and he didnt eat last night, im sure from the move, what should i feed him to "power feed" him?

btw he is about 7"

when introducing into the tank, do a large water change, say like a 50% w/ vac, this will stress out the others enough not to notice the guy when you drop him in. move every single piece of decor around so its all 100% fair game, and drop the temp a few degree's. give that a shot

i would just offer food whenever you can, if it does not eat remove it and if it does eat then fine.
i fed my pygos on whitebait, prawns and they eat pellets too a mixed varied diet is good, although i dont recommend feeding piranha a lot of meat you could try beefheart but use sparingly.

Power feeding is feeding him everyday or feed him whenever he is hungry. You want to watch you water quality if you are doing this. Another thing you can do when reintroducing is feed your p's until they are totally full so when you put the new fish in they won't be interested in him.

Its weird cause I use to have a one-eyed red belly but I bought him in a group when they were 5" and the one-eyed guy just beat the hell out of everyone and always was the first to eat. He must of had a different reaction when he lost his eye.

the hospital tank is a 20L and it has about 15 guppies in it too, so i would imagine if he does get hungry he will have a lil somehting to nibble on too :)
