hello i hope someone can help me here.
Heres the story, for abt 3 wks or so ago, my male con died... him n his partner had bred once for me and the frys are in a 3 gal growout tank for now.
Now, i have been trying to introduce new males, smaller, same sized and bigger ones to her(diff times of course)... but the results have been the same, shes been very aggresive to the males to the point that some get wounds.
what wud u guys advise me? shud i just left 1 male in the tank even tho shes quite aggressive to him? or keep trying to introduce new males to her til she gets som1 that she'll like...?

im pretty sure shes pregnant. how long will she get over with her old partner? :screwy:

give her some time, let her rear these fry and then try again

how long were each of the new males in the tank?

to me it sounds like she is territorial......try rearranging the tank's decorations before adding a male.....that will let the new male come in and set up a territory too.....i'd say you'd be more likely to see her mate up again if you did that.........

Sounds like territorial behavior....Rearrange the tank....Or, setup another tank(55g, $55) and put the pair in it...She did not go bullog on any of her mates, she is just the dominant in the tank right now....

reaarrange the tank eh?.... hmmmmmmm.... interesting!

yea that would be your best bet..........rearrange the tank or even put some new decor in there and i bet you'll be ok........

Im actually having the same problem but the male killed the female after they had and raised about 9 fry.

lots of times if a fish has been in there longer, it runs the show. id put the female in a bucket for a few hrs, introduce a male to the tank right away and then add the female after a while so its no longer HER tank. rearranging rockwork and such works well too.

as with the male attacking females, ive found that males want to breed breed breed while females want to raise the fry. i had a male who would kill all the fry off just to breed again right away. once the mother tried protecting them and he killed her. i added three females for him and he was a happy convict and i didnt have that problem anymore.

how long have the fry been removed? she don't understand that her mate is gone either, so she is just defending her territory. pull her out if you can, rearange the tank and reintroduce her and the male at the same time.
