First, let me just say it's nice to have options. Currently building my fish room and what I enjoy most is breeding fish. With that said anyone who has been breeding for a while will understand that most of the time species specific tanks are best for breeding purposes with of course target/dither fish where needed. So some of the species I would like to breed include Geophagus, Gymnogeophagus, Amatitlania, & Rotkeil Severums. Now the biggest fish I plan to keep will be the Sev's. Currently I have four 40 breeder tanks set up. I was planning on putting a 180 gallon tank in this room which measures 10.5 x 10 ft . Obviously I have some space limitations to contend with as one wall is taken up by a computer table & egress window and 1 wall is a closet. So basically I have two ten foot walls to work with. Never having worked with Severum before I'm wondering now if the 180 is a good idea. Would I be better served with a smaller tanks like maybe two 75 gallons for breeding? What do those breeding gurus think?
