my beta died of a fast moving fungus, but to keep the bacteria I bleached the gravel, burnded it with hot water, and took a pinch of it and mixed it in with new gravel. is this ok?

If you bleached it and scalded it with hot water, you killed all the bacteria on it anyway, so in reality you are starting with virgin gravel...

agreed, you just pulled off a nuclear holocaust on your BB.

I think you will be fine. As long as you thoroughly cleaned the gravel.

I also agree. The bacteria are most likely dead, but just to be safe....I would boil the gravel.

Columnaris. Many people simply jump to conclusion it is fungal infection. True fungal infections are rare. Columnaris is often mistaken as one and this is a very common occurrence and is contagious as well as dangerous.
