Age doesn't matter when it's exhausted.

Nope. I only use carbon when i want to remove medication or tannins that leak out from new driftwood. Other than that its just good old bio media and bacteria that does all the work. I read somewhere that u could microwave it to reactivate it... not sure how true that is though as i have never tried it myself.

I don't use carbon on any of my tanks. I replace it with more biomedia.

Putting it in the microwave sounds like a badddd idea. Just trash it.
