Long story short, 3 weeks ago i set up a 55 gallon with 550gph of flow through a wet/dry. Seeded it with MAJOR amounts of media, and water. 2 6" oscars cycled the tank in a week.

Last week i added some driftwood, gave the oscars away, and replaced with 2 geos and a pleco. Tested the water, and noticed a minute level of nitrite. Immediately thought it was the wood, removed it water change. Waited a day, again...small level. Water change again. Next day one more time, same thing...what the hell?

So now i am thinking something is wrong. Swallowed my pride and took a water sample to the LFS.

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
PH 7.0
Nitrate 0 (because of the water changes i assume)

The verdict? Media in my Saliferts went bad. Go figure.
