I was going to set up a 20g tank with 8 neon tetras, 8 cory cats(basically all different species) And 1 gourami(no they're not from the amazon fish but would look good in here). I was going to do the tank heavily planted and i needed some real amazon plants that would look good in here.

Different things from the Echinidorus sp. (don't discount amazon swords, their are hundreds of species and strains), vals, cabomba (I love this stuff), ceratophyllum (hornwort). Not all strictly amazon, but all SA.

and also was going to mix some of these fake plants to occupy the top of the tank, looked really good in this other guys set up

what do you mean "top of the tank" floating plants? or something anchored to the side towards the top.

A good default aquascaping is a large plant in the middle (amazon sword, ozelot sword, melon sword), with tall stemming plants in both back corners (cabomba, hygro) and in the front put something small like chain sword.

Fill in with river rocks/drifwood to your liking.
