would putting a piece of coral in my tank change the PH or anything? Will it affect my fish at all?
(Edit) oh and I think this should be in the "Setup/filtration" forum, apoligies

It will leach calcium into the water raise your kh hardness and therefor raise your ph... slowly so your fish will adapt however if you keep tetras this might not be a good idea, since they like a softer lower ph water.

The coral would die very quickly. No point, corals are purely saltwater
he means a coral sketelton.

it would definetly up your pH and kH.

Like everyone else said, it'll raise the pH and the KH. What all is in the tank.

Nothing at the moment, new 10 gallon. Almost cycled. The water here in LA has a high PH to begin with, 7.2 last I tested (three weeks ago)should I be using a softener?
I have clown loaches, barbs, corys, a green terror, clown knife, pleco. Would the high PH mess with any of these?

Thanks
