Can someone give me a link to a cheap, functional, good looking 55 gallon stand that I can DI my self.

Or atleast point me in the right direction to find cheap ones already built thanks

Stands are too difficult to DIY. I believe if you look at the DIY projects in the stickied threads there are a couple of good stands that you can go ahead and scale to work with a 55, or you could just improvise and make it exactly how you want.

Why is it too difficult? All you need is a couple of hand tools and some material. Check out what a regular guy like me is able to produce (the bottom of the stand is facing the camera and the front of the stand is facing up)...

You can check out my thread for more details in the construction. It's not a step by step, but will give a pretty good reference. Just use 2x4's where I used 2x6's.

Here's my thread, keep going through the pages until you see the stand being built.

Good, strong and easy to build designs. The two-part stand with structural core can be built in two stages. Get the tank support in use, then take your time and construct and finish the shroud as you can afford the fancy wood. However, one thing I would caution you about is the stand construction article does not discuss grades of plywood. Use good quality exterior grade Birch or Fir plywood. Avoid plywood with softer pine species, and avoid MDF when constructing something that may get wet mutiple times.

Great looking stand, Ferguson. If you lose your day job, looks like you could make it as a finish carpenter. What kind of filtration are you planning for that monster tank?

Thanks. I'm using the same wet/dry sump that's currently running my 190g. It's handling the load pretty well for the last year. It should do fine on the new tank. But, I've got a bunch of acrylic in the garage, so I'm going to build a larger sump after getting the tank set up.

***EDITED TO ADD***
For luckydud13, go to reefcentral.com and check out their DIY forum. There are a ton of stand build threads over there that should give you some great ideas. There are some way over-engineered designs and finish work that put mine to shame.
