Got got this little guy a couple of months back (labeling said Texas, looked like one to me, never having owned one before). Anyways went back a couple of weeks ago and sign now says Texas hybrid, but the sales person said they didnt know what with. Any ideas as to what it might actually be?

not a Texas

deff not texas. if it does have a little texas in it then its anybodys guess to what it has been crossed with.

It resembles a festivum (spelling?), Not a texas at all. How is the temperament?

Nothing like a festivum ( I have 4 in the same tank). Temprement? Smallest fish in a 105gal and swims around rather happily, other fish of note are 2F JD's, 1F Salvini, 2 adult festivum (current tank dominaters) a 9" sailfin plec and 6" feather fin. Other than 2 festivum juvies slightly bigger than it, its that smallest fish in the tank by 1/2.

Or did you mean festae (aka red devil, in which case its missing the markings from gills to where the mid area starts), but if it is a hybrid could be part anything.

mybe a cutter's cichlid, its similar in looks

Salvini X Vieja Synspilum/Bifa?
No texas in this guy, but i see a Salvini in him.

Dont really mind what it actally is, looks nice (at the moment) no plans to ever breed it.

Mods, if you think should be moved to the hybrids, go for it (I know how some feel)
