SO I have wanted L200 for years I finally found some in my area and picked up two. Last night one was pushing around the other this morning I wake up to find one dead. Will an L200 kill another one? Are they that territorial. It is a 75 gallon. I haven't seen any aggression from other fish. The one that died was the most active and always out in the open he was also more colorful than the others I am really saddened by this loss. I never loose fish and of course I have to lose my most expensive hardest to find fish.

Sorry to hear..Were his fins all frayed & split? This usually indicates an attack..I can't recall ever having multiple 200's together, but I know I had a few blue phantoms with my green & all went well..i think any pleco species has the capabilities though

Didnt really check the fins the body was missing skin in spots and eyes plucked which I assume happened after it died. It is in with HRP's , FM's and juvenile Synspillium. I have never had a problem with them and my plecos before.

Most plecos are shy, they are different from other fish that most actually shows more contrasting coloring when they are stressed. When a pleco, especially one that's newly introduced, stays out in the open, there is something wrong. Most likely, it's always on it way out when you introduced it into the tank. Either from disease, worms, improper acclimation, or just too much stress in general.

Remember one big rule. If a pleco, especially a smaller one, stays out in the open in a new environment, prepare for the worst.

thats good to know. This is my first with "fancy" plecos.

How the other phantom doing, and have you seen them eat.

The other one seems to be fine. I don't see them eat when I feed the tank. but I do see it savaging around the rocks so I assume it is eating.

Did you talk to the LFS about bringing the dead phantom and a water sample to tried to get half store credit back?

Sorry for your loss. Yes the green phantom is highly aggressive among plecos and very aggressive to other green phantom pleco. It is recommended that they be in 48" or larger foot print. And have their own spots and territory. I just got one today so ive been researching this.

no because when I found it in the morning eyes were plucked out and looked beat up they would just blame it on the tank mates. Wish I could that was $50 down the drain.
