Really Dark Peacock Bass

My bass is really dark in color today. I've seen him dark before but it usually goes away. Is there anything I should be looking out for? He's almost black in color.
 
tankmates? water conditions? it could be showing dominance among other things
 
post up some pics because one of mine does that...but when I turn the light on he usually lightens up a bit.

is he eating and behaving like normal?
 
more info... tankmates, water params etc.. more or likely if hes not the only pbass in the tank the colour change could be due to agression..
 
like everyones saying, check your parameters. other than that, it could be dominance or the bass's mood
 
it could be a sign that its a dominte male when its green stripes start to mesh with the black ones, lack of oxigen or ph would have the oppisite effect
