Hello all thanks for the read,
I recently noticed that my marineland biowheel 400 was getting dirty so I decided to take it out and clean it up propper "I left the biowheels in the tank of course" got it apart nice and easy cleaned it and reassymbled. When I plugged it back in it is louder that heck and I have no idea why. So I re took it apart and put it back togeather and cant figure out why. :irked: Have any of you had this problem in the past and been able to overcome it? (normally I wouldnt be so worried but this tank is right next to me bed, as in 3 feet)
Thanks again,
B.

Hello; Check the impeller assembly. I have had that part cause noise in the past. The small rubber pad on the ends of the shaft on mine have to be seated well to make it run quiet. I have had the impellers wear after running for a long time, the plastic tube enlarges and the metal shaft has had visible wear on a couple. (I fixed one with a stainless spoke of slightly larger diameter once when i could not locate a new impeller.) I think this allows them to wobble too much and become noisy. The impeller unit on one of my current filters is noisy for a few days after i do a thouough cleaning. I have also have had a bit of gravel or snail shell get into the impeller cavity and cause a rattle. Reset the impeller asssembly a few times, it has worked for me on occasion.

I think this is the problem the more I hear it, sounds like the impeller is out of allignment of just wobbling. I will look for another impeller then I think for tonight I wil just put the biowheels in the tank to save bb and cut off that filter. the other 400 and the ehim 2217 should keep up for the night.
thanks for the replies guys,
B.
