Swimming in a mountain river
U know how something horrible always HAS TO happen right after u get home from vacation? Yea... this morning,(by coincidence) I woke up extra early(5am) & I found some moist carpet, that's weird I say, I feel around, oh just great my 240gal tank is leaking. Wonderful. :irked:Now, I have to drain the thing, find out where its leaking(I have a good idea), and throughout this, I'm supposed to find a place for everybody... splendid:irked:... and of course, today my oscars are having marital troubles AND my husband has to go back to work today so he can't help me! Just dandy... life can b mean sometimes:irked: I'm lucky it didn't get on anything and burn my house down. So, at least there's that.

That sucks, i always fear of stuff like that happening...how much fish are in the tank?

Thanks. There's an old chewed up bulkhead thingy there, and I'm hoping it just needs replacing. Its lasted for awhile, but I wasn't too confident in its long-term lifespan. Praise god home depot is open til 10! Residents: 2 adult tiger oscars, 2 turtles, an adult pleco, a small pleco, and some goldfish. I have a kiddie pool I'm hoping will suffice as a home for 2 days.

Sorry to hear about the leak. I know the feeling about the vacation curse...I went to FL last month and my mom fed my fish...When I returned my purple spot Goby had commited Suicide and my large Tilapia mysteriously died...It has become expected that I loose a fish each time I go on vacation for some reason...

Where is the bulkhead located? If it is fairly high you can just drain the tank to below the level of the bulkheads to replace it.

I would get some paper towels and a flashlight and try to chase down the leak before you go any further. Good luck!

Yeah, that's a pain, but at least you caught it before the tank emptied. Your fish would be dead and the damage to your house would be considerable!

Lucky for me, the bulkhead is right on the bottom. I found lots of giant tupperware bins fo everyone. Goldfish in one, plecos in another, and oscars in the largest. Kiddie pool will b 4 turtles. I have an airator that has 4 outputs, so everone can have enough oxygen.
