So my next car purchase will probably be rear wheel drive and the only bad thing I keep hearing about them is that they are a PITA in the snow in winter.I did have a rear drive car years ago but don't remember driving in the winter so Im not sure what to expect with the new car. What can you all tell me?.....

They are dicey in the winter in our area, but it comes down to tires. Invest in a set of Blizzaks to run in the winter. Depending on the car, you can grab a set from tire rack on steel wheels for around $1200.

I was forced to drive my stang for half a winter in ny 2 years ago when the winters was real bad. I'm a town worker so we plow and I was forced to drive when the roads were the worst. I had firestone winterforce tires and they were comparable to blizzaks but less money. Only lost control when I wanted too.

Damn, that much?...would these be year round or seasonal tires?

Depends on a few factors. Traction control helps a lot and most modern cars have it. Also u can put some sand in the back to give it more weight in the rear tires. What kind of car?

Go S. Vettel #1 rb8

If your really concerned about the RWD then why not get a different vehicle? Given that winter is coming this means you will have to buy the car then spend another $1000 on tires very soon.

IMO the drive doesn't make a difference with proper tires and proper driving technique.

I don't believe in driving anything without 4wd & Lo4 too.
;-)

The car that I am strongly considering is a 2011 or 2012 Dodge Charger and if it is too much of a problem I can drive my current car in the winter. It's not so much that I am so concerned about winter driving with this car it's just that I have heard so much about it as it relates to snow driving and wanted to see what others here had to offer on the subject, just want to know what I might be getting myself into.
