hi, my australian water dragon seems to have settled into his enclosure and is eating well now that i have rased the temp. he also seems to be getting used to me as he doesnt panic whenever i go near him. whilst this is all well and good, i would like to rearange his tank quite significantly. i didnt set it up quite how i would have liked as he got shipped to me on quite short notice so just had to set up quickly.

anyway..... would it be ok to rearrange his tank (he has everything he needs - it would be purely aesthetic) or would that just stress him out now that he has settled in?

Congrats on your purchase. I've always wanted one but the only water dragons I ever see for sale are Chinese. How long have you had him? I think it should be alright if you say he's settled down and is eating.

ok, cool thats good to know. ive had him about 3 weeks now, hes only a baby and is in a 5 foot converted fish tank (dont worry he has plenty of hiding spots).

my idea is to create a mini waterfall, the water flows into a pool and the pool then feeds a mini stream along the front of the tank, im also going to try and get a heap of plants growing in there.

it is surprising to me that overseas the majority of people have chinese water dragons, i keep hearing comments along the lines of "i would like to have an australian one but they are so hard to find"

here in new zealand you can only keep australian water dragons, beardies and blue tounge skinks. i would dearly love to be able to keep a tegu or monitor of some type but apparently they are hazardous to the environment or some crap like that.

Sounds great, get some pics! I used so raise baslisks and I had a pretty nice set-up for them with plants, waterfall and a pond. I don't know if I have any pics here, I'll have to look.
Yeah, I've heard of you laws. That does really suck. There are so many neat and interesting herps out there too!

yeah rearanging wont hurt him..may be disorriented for a few hours but will love the new setup...
