Hey all,
I am looking to move my fish around into different tanks and in order to do so I need to clear each tank at a time for an hour or two to clean and rescape and on some tanks plumb. I’m not concerned with putting my smaller fish in buckets but the big guys I’m a little concerned with keeping in a tote for hours. Any suggestions on this?
Here’s the plan:
My shell dwellers will be moved from the 150 to the 55. And while it’s empty the 150 will be put on a new stand, drilled?, and the sump needs to be redesigned. The shell dwellers will spend a considerable amount of time in a 5 gallon bucket
Once the 150 is ready to go my RTC, leopard, and two oscars will be moved from the 130 to the 150 as a holding tank until I get the 300 repaired. The 130 is a massive job. The stand is going to be rebuilt, the sump redesigned, and I’d like to do a detailed Amazon rescape, also lids need to be made, lighting needs to be figured out, and the overflows might be redone because I don’t like them. Once that tank is finished, it will be stocked with my tiger shovel nose, Asian RTC(both under 8 inches), school of convicts, Jaguar, green terrors, 3 pacu, hump back puffer, 3 clown knifes and two smaller bichirs. My albino arrowana might also join the tank if the scaping allows if not it’ll go in the 150.
At this point the 55 will get rescaped to suit the shell dwellers and I might add a canister filter. My 75, 30, and a 20 long will be open.
The 75 will either be open for anything I find that I like enough to dedicate a tank to or I might try to do a reef tank. The 30 will have a lot of work done to turn it into a suitable jellyfish tank. The 20 long will probably remain a grow out tank or become a coral only tank.
I also want to rearrange my tank layout a little and add in an RO system and water top off. I also am trying to figure out ways to reduce the amount of things I have plugged in because every tank is on one 20 amp breaker and there are extension cords and power strips waiting to burst into flames. So if there are any ideas on that I’d greatly appreciate it.

Keeping the fish in totes for hours will be fine. I suggest not crowding the large fish. Make sure the totes you buy are sturdy enough not to bow. I personally kept fish in totes for 2 days without issues.
Place airstone in each tote hooked up to a air pump of course. You can also toss in the biomedia if you want.
