I have tried to feed my rec masavore pellets and tilapia he will come over and pic them up but as soon as he has them in his mouth the spits them back out after that even if we put him a worm in the tank he won't touch it. sometimes it takes a full 24hrs to get him to eat again.

Is it safe for him to eat only nightcrawlers
2nd if so how many should he be eating now he is 7 inches across and how many when he is full grown

And other suggestions welcome

Give raw prawn (shrimp) a try and muscles

By rec do you mean retic? To me a ray that only eats worms is the harder ones to convert. Best bet would be to feed him live ghost shrimp or some call them grass shrimp. Once you get him on those then feed them to him dead. I will squeeze them right before putting in tank. Once he eats dead ones then start mixing in small slivers of frozen shrimp then onto shrimp only. From there sky is the limit. As far as worm intake a ray can eat more than you want to buy. For health sake I would give him at least 4 a day and probably double that as an adult

ppl may disagree with me here, but try dosing with prazipro, it boosts there appetite huge, and then just drop the food you want him to eat in there, worked for my retic with the same problem when i had to dose prazi for another ray. some ray keepers suggest dosing prazi once a year anyway.

He is full when he stops eating them. And that's the amount of worms you should think of feeding him for now. I would feed him as many worms as he will eat in one sitting and then look at his back and see if it is huge and puffed up far more then when you started. If he is puffed up and full then he is eating well. Try feeding him a touch less than that amount. For converting him to other food try the shrimp method or starve him a couple days and try shrimp or tilapia cut small.
