I am building a sump for a 100 gal tank. Any reccomendations for a pump that is around 500gph or will any do?

I would go with the mag drive pump myself...I have the mag drive 18 (1800gph)in my sump for a little over a year now and it works fricken great and makes a lot of current. However...I have heard pro/cons about this pump but It hasn't given me any problems yet plus if im correct...the store I bought it at gave me a 3 (or 2 year...i forget) year warranty from the manufacture.

First you have to know how much water can drain from your tank. Expect NO MORE than 600 gallons per hour per 1" drain.

Then, size the pump to fit. I recommend only Eheims for submersible pumps. Everything else fails it seems in a year or less. Reeflo is a good external pump for really big water flow.
