Basically all this credit goes to the jgrays for putting this online. Recently switched the plumbing to hard vinyl with the bracket inside the hose and put a 90 degree pvc onto it. I used 1 1/4 inch. I had some issues with the connections to the top of the canister leaking. Tighten the clamps, saw no leaks left it til the morning. that night i moved my dehumidifier over to where the tank is. In the morning the tank lost about 2 inches of water, it being a 210 it was quite a bit. I thought nothing of the filter leaking and just assumed that the dehumidifier was the cats ass. 
Once i came home after work i noticed about 4 inches had leaked. then i noticed the problem the hose connecters to the top of the canisters were leaking. All i had to do to fix them was hit them a bit on the top. That out of the way i decided to mod the internals of the fx5. putting a egg crate disc on the bottom of the canister and filling it up with all of the bio media i previously had and about 1 inch of 20 ppi foam and 3 inches of 10 ppi poret foam. I ran out of bio media to use so i just filled the rest with foam.
Flow seemes a bit more slowed but i know this means more contact time with the bio so iam not to worried. i could have put about 3-4 more inches of bio media in there ill have to buy a bucket.
