Took some more recent pics of some fish in the CA tank.

No flash is used because I dont like the artificial light that changes their more natural colors.

Hope you like...Bill

Centrachus and HRP are an inseperable pair although both female. I like the way their breeding colors are opposite patterns

Nice fish. The female convict is beautiful I'm sure. I HATE how the most beautiful fish always take the crappiest pics.

Bill, your fish look great! I especially love the gold Mixteco and the female Con in the last 2 pics. Do you still have your pair of nics?

Thanks guys and gals.

Ya the female con is a looker. Her trailing fins are beautiful.

The Nics are the other two cichlids in the tank. They are a pair and bosses of the tank. They have been going through the spawning motions for 6 month but dont lay eggs that I know of. They build huge pits and tunnels under the rocks. They chase others away but are not too mean about it.

This tank has the perfect mix of fish and is a joy to watch. The fish are always active and interactive. They squabble and flare a little which keeps things interesting. No nipping, extended chases, lip locking, or torn fins. I guess I lucked out.

The Oblongum are "chillin". Literally. Their tank is about 70*. Their colors are a little drab. They have stopped spawning but are very bonded.

The Balzani have ick so I am treating that tank currently :(

Really nice fish and nice pictures too. That first one of the mixteco turned out especially nice. If you can make time to sit there with your camera and shoot lots of pictures you can probably get a few good shots for each of them.
