Update of My Paretroplus juvies, 10 Maculatus and 1 lone Kieneri - Hopefully I will have more Kieneri soon. Somehow the loner managed to arrive with my Maculatus group about a month ago. No one seems to realize the oddball is different. They're just over two inches and already starting to show fantastic coloring.

They're all thriving in their new home and have grown a bit in the last month. They eat everything and would gorge themselves all day long if allowed. Whenever anyone comes near the tank they immediately come looking for food. Very beautiful and interesting Malagasy cichlids. When they're not being fed, they seem to really enjoy shaking their heads in the sand and sifting. They aren't showing any signs of aggression. I believe its because of their numbers. The are always in a group and are quite curious about their surroundings.

I realize this thread is a bit old (June) and this section seems less traveled, thought I'd reawaken it with a few pics of my P maculatus, I've had them about 3 years. They have spawned a number of times, but as yet, I have not been able to finagle fry from them.
I've had them in 125 and 150 gal tanks, and a rubbermaid stock trough. My next attempt will be a 500 gal pool in the sun room, hopefully next spring when it warms up, and the Uruguayans head back from the pool to the pond.

Thanks for resurrecting the thread, now I'll have to take new pics of mine ;-)
