Lucky
Last week I was fly fishing in a 10 foot wide creek hoping to practice setting the hook on some small creek chubs. The water was rising as the snow was melting and I realized the only flies I had since last season were dry flies. I let my flies sink naturally hoping that some creek chubs would notice the flies. I usually average about 30 fish every 25minutes however I had not one bite. Then when it was time to go I left my fly rod on the ground with the line in the water for about three minutes as I packed up my stuff. I went back and started reeling up my line and felt something fighting back. Sure enough I knew I had caught my first carp! It was just a little guy but hey I got lucky.
Not So Lucky
Well this one doesn't require a long story. The Passaic River flooded and many homes suffered severe water damage.
Yesterday
Yesterday it was hot as hell. I felt like going Kayak fishing after I got out of school and traveled to a tributary of the Passaic hoping it wouldn't be as flooded. The water level was about 2 feet higher than usual and the current was much swifter but I managed to get some fishing done. You can call me crazy, I know its still winter but I had a feeling about topwater lures. Anyway I decided to use a topwater frog lure and got skunked (suprised?) however I had a real nice fish (either a pike or a monster pickeral) strike my lure several times before giving up
Anyway, enjoy the pics!
