recharged purigen yellowish colour

I tried recharging my purigen by soaking in 1:1 bleach and water solution for 24hrs. It turned out to still have 50% pinkish brown granules and 50% yellow granules. I did 2 further soaks, this time in full bleach solution. I now have all yellow granules instead of the white colour of new purigen granules, and what I observed from YouTube tutorials is that the recharged purigen should be white in colour like new granules.

Has anyone also encountered this problem? Are these yellow granules considered ineffective?

I definitely would not risk it in my fish tank. I tried recharging my purigen too and it went a brown colour, I think it was because I didn’t use pure bleach, I used cleaning bleach. I threw it away before I made a predictable “major mistake” lol.
