Just a quick on about recharging purigen.

Im in the process of recharging my purigen, I have soaked with bleach for 24 hours and rinsed off bleachy water..On the seachem website the recommend, for freshwater use, after soaking in a solution of prime and water to soak the purigen in a ph buffer. Just wondering if the step with ph buffer is completely necessary?
Thanks

Nope, I never did that. I soak it in bleach until it turns white again, rinse it out with cold tap water, and then put it in a bucket of water with prime in it for a few minutes.

i soak it with bleach in a bucket and run a powerhead until it's white. After a day, i do the same but without bleach for 2 times and finally dechlorinating with sodium thiosulfate.

Depends on your water chemistry. read the article on seachems website explaining why.
There were quite a few people who had their tank crash after recharging. Personally after sitting in my canister for 3 -6 months no amount of bleach water would recharge mine. I figure I get my use out of it and replace.

thanks for the replies....purigen is back in my tank.....ph is fine. man does this stuff ever make your water sparkle
