It had occurred to me recently that if the pump on my reef sump had a problem I would lose tons of animals before I could replace it.
I am more of a freshwater guy as far as experience goes. So this naturally concerns me. I don't recognize this pump and without doing some major work I can't turn it over to read any labels that may or may not be on the other side. I thought maybe one of you would recognize it. I'd like to know it's manufacturer obviously, but more importantly I would like a GPH rate or any other info I could get on it. I think it would be prudent of me to buy a back up so it has to be similar/stronger. The reef set-up is a 90gallon with a sump of a guessed capacity of about 25 gallons. It could hold more but that's where it is kept.
I am attaching a pic which I hope goes through.

yes it's a mag, if there's anyway to look a the label you can figure out which one by the power consumption.

i have 3 mags, i'd say get another. quite one's are also popular i believe.

The label is the problem. I'm trying to get around that.

Of course I could just switch gears here. Any suggestions on a good replacement?

Well you can replace it with a mag drive :) But you should have an idea of what your current turn over is.

Thanks for all the fast feedback. It sounds like the Mag is reputable. I have had no trouble with it and have had it for a year but when the electric went out the other day I started thinking..........what if this burned out? I'd be screwed.

Also Diskord thanks for the details.....I'm getting ready to check that link right now.

Borrow a compact mirror from your girlfriend/wife and hold it up to the back side of the sump so you can read the label. If you have to put the mirror in the sump, you can buy cheap mirrors at CVS, Walgreens, and Walley World.

What size is the plumbing. It doesn't look like a MD7 and certainly isn't a MD12, so it is probably a MD9.
