As you know, i am teh newb, and i am very sorry for this i seched but nothing really popped up on what pump, filters etc etc to use,

here is the run down, im going to buy 1 vampire payara's. as babies. stick them in my 35gal, until i see its time to upgrade to something bigger, manly a 75-126gal. mind you these will most likey be the only 2 in the tank, hence for the smaller size.

what current and what pump would you go with alone with what fliter systems, i want healthy fishies here.

also. i was thinking white sand on the botton alone with some drift wood for some places to hide and rest. alone with the 10k light, ( i think that is what it is, it light the tank with the crisp clean blue look)

please help. thank you very very much, i know i could go to the pet store and just pick something up, but i want to make sure i have some good stuff for my tank, clean tank make for happy fish

Welcome to MFK :D

The most important thing is pretty much getting a cycled tank first. I would definitely search MFK or use google to read some info on the nitrogen cycle and cycling a tank.

As for the filters, what kind of budget are you on? A canister filter would be nice but you will have to shell out some $$$. You can look into a DIY(do it yourself) canister, I'm going to try something similar to this: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=295443

Also, make sure you give your fish a good diet, good food = healthy fish. I actually just made a thread about it today :P

Mostly foods that either are or are made of what a given species eats in the wild, and then a little extra vitamin action on it. Cichlid Gold (corn flakes) fails much harder in this sense than say, massivore or Nutrafin Max 'freeze dried tablets' which is actually made of - you guessed - things fish eat. Variety is the key, though. Remember that even dedicated piscivores digest the plants in the intestines of their prey.

Add live worms of all sorts to my list here, even for herbivores as they would normally eat worms in their rooting habits.

well i have decent amount of money, but i would rather not spend 400 bucks on 1 thing, i do have a car i am building lol. not sure what prices really are? throw what u would run in the tank and i will go look them up lol

well i think i ran into some bad news, it seems he payara is a seasonal,so it seems i cant get 2 of them, i need to try another store i think,

www.kensfish.com has a lot of cheap items for fish tanks
there are good reviews about eheim canisters. on ebay you can find sunsun and jebo filters at a lower cost, although I looked for sunsun filters today and didn't see any

and while ur at kens i would grab a bottle of prime(water conditioner), maybe heater if you have the air conditioner on, api freshwater test kit wouldn't hurt...i need to get myself one :P
