...to go with my Texas in a 75g. BTW, he's probably the most easy-going Texas cichlid in the world so I wouldnt be too worried about him making life hard on the newcomer. But include 'tough' just in case. ;)

How about a breeding pair of Hemichromis Elongatus? Five stars are very tough, plus, I know where you can get this pair.:)

a breeding pair of elongatus wouldnt work in a 75 with ANY another cichlid, much less one with the potential to reach 10+ inches in such a small tank...and a pair would kill the texas easily (plus theyre african).

In a 75, youre looking at the smaller growing species...convicts, HRPs, neets, nics, sajica and possibly nanoluteus. Id personally go with a male neet and some sort of smaller growing pleco or catfish.

I agree with VRWC. You're not dealing with a lot space so adding other large aggressive fish would lead to problems. I have HRPs and they are colorful and active. With cover they would mix well with your Tex.

Agreed, a male Sajica might be nice.

bichir! One of the most hardy and awesomest fish ever! Definatewly worth cheching out!

tilapia butti is tough, hardy, and cheap, but will not get along with anything else in there

Would love to find him a partner but I wanted to add a little more color to the tank.
