Requirements:
No bigger than 12" TL
**NO HIDING**
Pretty
No catfish with big predatory mouths
No Synodontis
No pictus catfish

Hi im looking to add some catfish to my 100g tank. No predators with big mouths. They cant be able to eat tall, stocky 3" firemouths. No pictus catfish. Needs to be very active, absolutely no hiding is tolerated. Pretty is secondary, doesnt have to be pretty. But it NEEDS to be active and most importantly, no hiding. No bigger than 8". 12" if very slow growing. Preferably slow growing if it gets big and common is a big plus. Not something i would need to spend hundreds for. And nothing rare please. I will special order if need be though. No Synodontis btw, i already have a lot those in this tank. Im looking on planet catfish atm for possibilities. Help is appreciated.

Man Biggs you're asking a head scratcher by wanting a catfish that's not overly predatory. That's a tough one.

Almost all catfish are predatory. I think as your cichlids get a bit bigger, you'd have a better chance of finding a compatible catfish. A young lime probably WOULD suit the bill. Pretty much any cat that's not a pictus or synodontis would be a predator with a mouth to match.

How about a raphael catfish?

I'm curious to see where this goes.

Ehh raphaels are not active enough for me. (LIGHTBULB) I may have discovered a match. :)

How fast do the super common spotted pictus cats grow if fed sparingly but with good water quality?

Im talking about the ones that only get 5"-6". My lfs has a bunch their only maybe 2" max.

Why do you feed "sparingly"? Catfish as a rule aren't fish that like to be fed every once in awhile....
