I getting a larger tank for my catfish and im going to change my old 75 to a African Cichlid tank. I have searched for a kind that i like but cant find one that i want. I want some with a lot of red. Anyone name me one so i can research them?
If you want true red you can always mix a Hemichromis lifalili they can handle themselves with mbuna, or haps. These ones will stay a little smaller than the common Jewels (Hemichromis guttatus), but their temperament is better and they stay red almost 24/7. (And assuming your area hasn't been flooded fry can be worth some money.) Note these guys breed more and easier than convicts.
idk any red species, but you could probably find red variants of LAKE TANGANYIKAN SPECIES. they're sooooooooooooo cool. research them (more than just multifasciatus and ocellatus).
I like the Aulanacara Eureka red but from what i read only the dominent male will get bright and the rest brownish. Im gonna widen my options to just cichlids that are semi rare and have lots of sharp color? The best looking is a nother way to put it lol
I have a Eureka Red Jake...........he's not really red more like dark orange and blue;
Here's a few options for you, some may be harder to find then others:
Protomelas Taeniolatus -Red Empress
Aulonocara Red Orchid sp. Dragonsblood
Aulonocara Red Orchidee - Firefish
Aulonocara Rubescens - Ruby Red
Labeotropheus Trewavasae - Mpanga Red
