I am currently stuck at trying to get some fish to breed. My water is just too hard. I need an excellent RO, DI, or RO/DI unit.

Here are a few things that I need to consider in my choice.
- I get free unchloronated aquafier tap water.
- Tap water is extremely hard, 250+ ppm Ca, along with heavy metals from historical mining pollution.
- Need about 75+ gallons of soft water daily.
- Water from tap will be a constant 54 degrees.

I think a tri-chambered(carbon, cation resin, anion resin) DI unit would be best.

Anyone have any thoughs or advise? Paticular brands? Thanks in advance.

Do not use a DI unit. The cation and anion resins will be expired in only 50-100 gallons with your levels. Any basic 150 GPD RO/DI filter will work for you. A 6 stage will do the best job, but a 4 stage will do. Make sure you get the TDS meter that is inline, and I also would recommend the backflushing system, which will extend the life of the filters themselves. If you want to get a basic 3 stage RO unit, I can sell you a 3 stage Kent Deion unit to turn it into an RO/DI unit.
