have an aqua clear 110 and an emperor 400 plus 2 power heads. also have a python for water changes which i do frequently.

i want to drop in alot more africans. i currently have about 15 but i clearly need additional filtration.

canister filters are scary to me. i had a fluval 404 and it leaked everywhere i thought my tank broke. my whole floor was soaked.

but i dont have room for another hob filter because the other part of the tank has a pipe blocking it. its an old house.

Well are you sure you dont want to do a canister? I would say a few sponge filters or an in tank fiter.

im looking for personal vouchers. i am for a canister if it is not too expensive or overly complex. in-tank filters i havnt seen since i was young. i worry though because i have sand. i will look them up. i remember back in the day i had filters like that and they were attached to a powerhead.

i cant imagine a sponge filter doing much for a 125

I started with one FX5 on my 125. As the fish grew bigger, and the bioload increased, I purchased a second used FX5. I've had no problems with canister filters. You shouldn't let one bad experience keep you from using a canister.

im going to look it up.

but trust me one bad experience is no joke when the whole floor is flooded and 25% of the water almost is gone lol

1 Sponge filter would be more than enough. You severely underestimate them...

so attach a sponge filter to a powerhead? i have an extra powerhead that lost its guard. it sucked up a baby fish and killed it. can i use this?

Yes, a powerhead will work. Just make sure you get an appropriately sized sponge filter. Hydor is my favorite brand. They are like the eheim of sponge filters. And usually under 20$. Which is actually very expensive for a sponge filter.
