Recommendations for a good book

I am looking for a good book about central and south american cichlids.any suggestions?

The genus names have changed, but most info is relevant.

and if you want info about specific cichlids, back issues of these mags can be found on their web sites, that lists articles.

I highly recommend the Conkel book pictured above, Cichlids of North and central America.

and I don't recommend the Lexicon, unless you just want a catalog of species.

I agree about the Lexicon, way too costly for the amount of info.
Although a very comprehensive list of the cichlids world wide, again genus names are out of date.
The Aqualog books are much better for species lists anyway and photos, especially if you are interested fish a certain country or area.
They also have multiple photos of most species.

If you can find them,Tetra has a good series of books that are worth a look.
