Recommendations for a Prehistoric looking Turtle/Tortoise

Are there turtles/tortoises that looks like alligator snapping turtle but don't grow as big? Preferably with spikes on their carapace/have prehistoric looks..
I'm very fond of ally snapping turtle but their large size is a headache..
Please comment, thx..
 
Black Knobbed Sawbacks (Graptemys nigrinoda) have pretty cool looking shells and they stay small. But they can be pricey.

He doesnt breed them, not yet anyways. They are some tough eggs to hatch, lol. I'll ask him how this project is coming along when i see him in August.

There's been two guys that have hatched them over here in the U.S. so far. All the adults that come in mainly come from Uruguay. I wonder if they've hatched out anymore since then...
