Recommendations for a reliable powerhead?

I doubt I need anything super powerful, I’m sure the fx4 by itself is more than adequate. Just want to add a bit more surface agitation and water flow to the far side of the tank, furthest away from the outflow. But most importantly something that’s not going to crap out on me.

I got the sunsun one off chewey. It was only like $10, so not too expensive slime the fancy ones and hasn’t given out on me yet. It’s been up for a year or so.

Thanks duanes, super interesting. Didn't even consider the different types of flow that would best suit my fish. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm assuming my convict and livebearers would prefer a powerhead with a wider angle, and a more gentle flow rate.

A wide range PH would work well.
I use a Sicce, with a wide spread, rated at about 800 GPH, and for riverine cichlids does not appear to tax them at all.


The Sicce is in addition to the flow from the sump filter effluent.
