I have 3 RBP's & a Pacu in a 75 gallon tank...for now, I've noticed previously the water was some what clear, but after numerous water changes, gravel cleaning, etc etc the water is still cloudy. I've even added some accu-clear & still nothing....I've done a lil research on UV Sterilizer & see they help with this process, my question can anybody recommend any good ones? What the watt of the bulb should be??

Thanks in advance.....

did you clean the filter as well? cloudy could be from ammonia---> mini-cycle

yup I have 2 filters an aquaclear land 110 & a marineland filter...I'm going to do a slight water change in the morning and leave the marineland filter off, if that doesn't help then I'm getting a UV Sterilizer

by cleaning the filter (if you washed the medias (bio) in tap water) could kill off your good bacterias, which leads to mini cycle. if that's the case then it should clear up after few days once the bacterias colony re-establishes.
why would you want to leave the marineland filter off? should have both running if you want to establish bacterias in both filters.

I figured the marineland filter was still dirty hence why I turned it off, I'll wait a few days to see if it clears up....if it doesn't UV here I come

always be cloudy with that stock in a 75g. you will definately want a bigger footprint

Let me get this right, your water is cloudy and you think that turning off the filter (the thing that pulls debris out of your water) will help?!?!

What is your water maintenace schedule like? How much water do you change and how often.

Step one to getting rid of the cloud is to greatly reduce feedings, you can ramp them back up later.

Step two is lots of large volume water changes with gravel vac.

Step 3 is going to be a larger tank for that pacu before it breaks the glass of your 75.

A UV sterilizer is not the solution.

Agree with the above posts, a UV is not your solution. A UV sterilizer could actually contribute more to the problem if you are in fact going through a "mini" cycle, as it will kill off suspended bacteria. The only time a UV will help with cloudiness is if the cloudiness is due to suspended algae.

A water test should tell you if it is going through a "mini" cycle. If it isn't, time to upgrade mechanical filtration. If it is, time to upgrade biological filtration.

Agree!

If your water is cloudy it is a cycle / bacterial issue.

I recently added a UV to my system but my water had a green tinge which is algae. It cleared that problem right up.
