Nice I was thinking about 4'ft but not sure about width and height now this enlightened me. Thanks! Are you thinking 3 or 4 foot in length.
Any case I would go at least 18in wide. If you can go 4x2x2. At least 4x18inx18in
I don't have much space for a huge tank tho. If he gets bigger than the 50 gal I'm gonna build for him then off he goes to the pond.Yeah that's kind of an awkward size for a Flowerhorn -- you'd be looking at a tank that was reasonably long enough (4') but not wide enough, or a a 3' that was reasonably wide enough but not long enough. In either case you'd have to upgrade yet again in just about a year.
If at all possible I would suggest to go for something closer to a 75g (e.g. 48" x 18" x 21" -- or if you're making it yourself, even better something like 48"X21"X18"). That would do him for a while, and if you're successful in getting him too big for that he would deserve a larger tank (100-125g).
No enough space more than 50 or 55 gal. If he grows much bigger I'm going to need to transfer him to the pond.Yeah that's kind of an awkward size for a Flowerhorn -- you'd be looking at a tank that was reasonably long enough (4') but not wide enough, or a a 3' that was reasonably wide enough but not long enough. No enough soace for a tank more than 50-55 gal if he outgrows it then off he goes to the pond where he has all the space he needs. As much space as possible will be appreciated.
You said 50 gallons. Is there a reason that number is the mark?
48” x 16” x 16 will give you just a little more than 50 gallons
You could probably just buy a 55 that may be easier.
