What would you recommend for a 150 gallon tank with a couple of oscars in it? My sump is a 40 gallon breeder and the media and stuff will pretty much occupy half of the sump.

I have a 135 cichlid tank with a forty gallon sump (mine's two 20 gallon rubbermaid bins connected), I use two mag 7s (two overflows) and it works great. That's an advertised 1400 gph, which probably means 800-1000 in reality, I'd guess

1200gph would be about 8x turnover, 1500gph would be 10x. I personally think your sump will be large enough but aren't breeder tanks somewhat shallow? I wouldn't have the water level very high in the sump. I would also invest in some quality check valves for the return lines, these will eliminate the back siphon.
My sump is a 40 gallon long acrylic and I have about 1700gph through it. I had to really play with the operating level before i was comfortable with how deep the water level currently is, about half.
