:nilly:just got my first peacock bass. lfs said they were wild caught and they were trying to get them eating pellets. but once i got them home, i did what they said, basically starve them then feed pellets. but after a week in my tank and almost a week at the lfs, still no pellets being taken. so i fed feeders two days ago. what is the process of converting to pellets?:grinno:

hikari gold... but some cichla will never take pellets

I have the best luck with hikari food sticks myself, But it is still hit or miss depending on the individual fish. You may have more luck if you start with frozen, try krill. Then throw it at the top of the water to induce a reaction strike and hope they don't spit it out :)

Hikari Cichlid Gold, awesome stuff! Massivour/Carnivour sinking Pellets are great as well.

Arowana sticks seem to be a fav. too....not quite sure why they like them over the other cichlid sticks though.

It helps out greatly if you have other fish in the tank that are already eating pellets. Kind of like training them to eat pellets by allowing them to see other fish eating them. Has worked for me on more than one occassion. Hope that helps! :D

yup agreed with everyone above.. having fish in the same tank that already eat pellet does sometimes help.. i have 5 cichla together only one will stuff his face with pellets.. i dont even need to slap them agaisnt the surface

i was fortunate enough to have picke up my monos already eating pellets at the lfs, i use hikari food sticks they love them.

Hikari gold is a good start. Mine eat almost anything that goes in the tank, even market shrimp now.

I have two 3" peacock bass and they only eat frozen market shrimp and bloodworms. I don't use feeders as I don't want to risk introducing any diseases to my arowana.

carcrazy thats good thinking. unfortunately i suffered a loss of a new pbass. i really feel it was the feeders. i just started breeding convicts to try my hand at my own feeders.
