recovering from skinny disease

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's a very slim chance. I had one tiger loach growing thin for no reason even after I tried to treat it with levamisole hydrochloride but he eventually recovered and fattened up which I find rather strange. Usually, in those cases, the fish is beyond recovery. Give it a chance and fatten up with bloodworms. If it simply is going worse, consider euthanasia.

feed them live black worms. i had one that was basically in the brink of death recover after feeding it nothing but live black worms for a few weeks. you may have to still treat the parasite itself but at least the clown loach will be healthy enough to take the treatment.

You need to feed it until it looks obese. I have a blog you might want to read.

Try feeding him more. Not a lot to foul water, but nice and chubby.

Do the parasites that cause skinny disease live in the tank (like ick)? or just in the effected loach? I lost a loach due to skinny and 2 new loaches are now in the same tank. what should I do?

Treat everyone with levamisole hydrochloride.

My livestock stores always sell that but I'm not from USA. There still has to be a store somewhere there that should be stocking those meds. Your other alternatives are flubendazole or fenbendazole.
