hi guys,i have had my rectic for over a month now and he still doesnt seem to have much of a appetite.ive tryd him on earth worms, blood worms, frozen crill and prawns.i am starting to get a little worried that hes not eating enough, does any1 have any suggestions? thanks in advance

I got mine to start eating with live ghost shrimp. Once he started eating I switched to live blackworms. He eats like a pig now. I'd like to get him to eat mkt shrimp, but no luck so far.

mine devour ghost shrimp and blackworms (both live).
do you have multiple lfs around?
ghost shrimp do start getting expensive. i have two 4" retics and they will go through 20+ ghost shrimp in a single meal.
at even 40cents a shrimp, it starts getting crazy. i was having to buy them new shrimp every other day.

my lfs finally got blackworms in, and hadn't separated them into portions, so i just bought the entire bag. 20$, and i've had them over a week now and not even used 1/4 of the bag. only thing you should do is water change the blackworms daily.

i'd check through multiple lfs' if you can, even if you have to drive a little out of the way.

also try feeding nightcrawlers, earthworms or dew worms. mine seem to like them, only problem is they seem to have trouble passing the dew worms out of their bowels. mine were constipated for a few days trying to expel them. then again, dew worms are the bigger type of worm.

i dont know if you can handle this but it always seems to work with me for retics, get another one. I find that if there's more then one retic in the tank they may feel less secluded and it gives them an almost competition for food. I've found getting retics to eat alone is harder then in groups, once you get them to eat, then you can seperate them again if you want.

i've only had luck with rays/pellets when they're approx 8 inches and bigger...i've seen another thread where they recommended soaking the pellets in bloodworms or whatever they're eating, then feed em the pellets...good luck
