For about a year, there are periods where my fish stop eating and get white stringy poop. These are internal parasites right? I’ll cure them with API general cure, then everything is back to normal after about a week, but a few months later, the same thing seems to happen again. And it happens in all of my tanks. What could be the problem?

Are you doing multiple doses? Vacuuming the substrate in between? If indeed it’s internal parasites, it sounds like not all of the eggs and larvae are being taken care of, and are coming back every few months.
Do all fish act up at once? If so, it may not be disease but instead a tank wide issue.

They all don’t get sick at once. It’ll be 2 or 3 at a time out of a tank of 10 or 12. Then everyone will be good for a few months, then 1 or 2 fish get sick again. I’m afraid if I treat one of my fry tanks with api they’ll die because of the chemicals.

I would recommend doing 2 or 3 doses a week apart rather than just one at a time. This will kill off eggs and larvae of the worms.

I just bought api general cure and I’m going to treat all my tanks. A few times so they don’t come back. So is it a parasitic worm? Or bacteria?

Based on the symptoms (white poop, not eating), it sounds like internal worms to me.

So I’ve been treating them for a few days. I thawed some blood worms and mixed the API Gen cure in there with garlic guard and re-froze it. They ate the blood worms no problem, but they won’t eat the regular flake or pellet food. Not sure if they’re getting better, or they just like blood worms.

Bloodworms are one of those things fish get addicted to. Often they won’t eat anything else.
Most of my fish go crazy for mysis - see if that works.
White stringy poo can come as a result of not eating, it’s possible they are going on routine fasts.

What kind of fish are these?

Honduran red points. They spit out anything that’s not blood worms, but it hasn’t always been like that. It’s only recently, I’m treating my tanks still and some of the fry actually have the parasite and I’m certain of it because a couple of them are frail with stringy poop and swimming slow. I took them out and put them in a quarantine tank, but I’m still treating the main tank with the healthy fry.
