I had a freshwater 75 Gallon tank with rock gravel substrate and an eheim 2217 for over a year and some months.

I recently decided to convert my tank into brackish water.

2 days to my conversion I serviced my Eheim 2217 canister filter. I rinsed out in tap water the carbon sponge and the white sponge and the blue sponge.. I used tank water to service the stuff that looks like rings and the other stuff that looks like coco puffs. After that I put all back together again and let it run on the freshwater tank.

2 Days later I got rid of my fish and did a 50 % water changed of that old water that wasnt changed in like 3 weeks.

While my tank was half empty I decided to remove the rock gravel substrate and replace the substrate with Crushed Coral.

After I replaced the substrate I filled up the tank with the 50 % more water and added water conditioner and TLC (BB). So now I have half old water and half new water.

I let the tank run......

The next morning I added some Sea salt and raised my Specific gravity to 1.002. I was told that if I add too much in one **** I would kill all my BB.

I was told by the LFS that I needed a hard fish to get the tank going so I got a Male Molly.

4 Days later I tested my water parameters and the pH is 8.0 , Ammonia is .50 PPM, Nitrite is .25 PPM and Nitrate is 5.0 PPM.

Whats going on with the tank? Am I going through a recycle? If so why?
What can I do now?:nilly:

Ok its now day 5 and Im still showing Ammonia 0.25 PPM, Nitrite 0.25 PPM , Nitrate 5.0 PPM.

The water parameters have not gone up nor have they gone down.....

I dont understand whats going on with the bacteria.... Isnt the ammonia suppose to be going down and the nitrite going up and then back down and then the nitrate goes up and boom water changed???

Why is my levels remaining the same???

The bacterias are present .....Otherwise there wouldnt be nitrite and nitrate.

I added TLC, Seachem Stability, and some Prime.

I have one Molly running around in the 75 Gallon tank.....Is the Bio-load too small????? Should I get more tough fish? If so how many more?

just wait they'll go down. those levels are 'safe'.
i've had ammonia at 5.25 (at least thast what i think it was at...) so you dont have it so bad. nitrate isn't that toxic and nitrite is somewhat toxic...
dont add anymore fish. just wait.
try not to do water changes for a while as it can mess with the ammount of ammonia, then the nitrosomas and nitrobacter colonies won't grow.

well seeing as all 3 can kill your fish even in low ammounts i would say they are a bit high also have you tried changing the water any lately to lower nitates and nitrite large water changes help

I was wondering , does anyone know what the composition of the 2007 VW Rabbit Windshield is?

I know that the passanget windows are "Stained glass" for solar protection or something like that.

Is the front windshield also Stained for Solar protection? Or is the composition of the front windshield different than the other windows?

wow way to derail this one buddy vw glass has nothing to do with the problem at hand
