Ok, enough is enough. If anyone knows ANYBODY whether an individual or store that will take a lot of honduran redpoints AT ONE TIME pm me. All of the water in the basement has started to create a moisture problem. With a malfunctioning basement ac unit not cooling properly you get the idea. Right now I'm running my dehumidifier and ion fan.

This would be in the D.C. MD or VA area. Any and all suggestions welcome at this point. Petco is ok but i don't wanna do 20 trips to get these fish out of here.

Wow,the title had me thinking some new government chicanery was afoot....glad that is not the case and sorry to hear about your dilemma anyhow!

Do you have a lid on that tank (or is it not the tank you're concerned about specifically)?

All the tanks have lids but the basement below grade is brick and 18 inches of concrete...made to hold moisture over time. No screen doors down there so its hard to air things out without getting bugs and wasps.

The bathtub is the real issue. I draw the shower curtains and crack the door.

Air downstairs much better with reduced humidity after running ion fan and (not working right) ac. Guess I'll have to keep making phone calls. Ac will be addressed this week. Leaky valves and no coolant so thermostat stays at 78. The larger unit up top is good. I have a dual system. The basement unit has always had problems with leaks.

Have you tried posting a classified ad in something like Craigslist? When I had a bunch of polar blues to give out for free, there were no shortage of people lining up for them. It’s a bit of a hassle but maybe you can schedule all the appointments back to back on the same day. Can’t believe there’s no mom and pop LFS that won’t take them all. Stores around here don’t like giving out credit but they take all they can for free so long as they aren’t monster fish

Thanks. How do you set it up and keep things secure for appointments? I was thinking about selling from the garage if it came to that. Mom and pop stores are all but extinct in this area. I can think of 3 (all driving distance or parking issues), one being the place where I got my parrots and oscar but the owner is a horse's @ss. With my luck they're the ones that would take them.

Wait for it...😁

Petco on Marlboro Pike in MD will take ALL OF THEM. Daz right, all 300 or so. The whole kit and kaboodle is headed out this Saturday!!! BOOYA!!!!! They told me, "Let's keep this fish thing going."

Babies, babies babies
No more no more babies
out of sight
to my delight
Babies, babies babies!
Babies, babies babies
I'll rack em up
then pack 'em up
Babies, babies babies!
Babies, babies babies
won't shed a tear
they're outta here!
Babies, babies babies!

FINWIN FINWIN ...why don't just get yourself a nice hungry wolffish or pike or wide-mouth catfish? Freeze all those little suckers, thaw and feed to the big guy on a regular basis. It'll be a nice treat for the new fish. He can have his own tank; nice and peaceful and quiet, no bopping and whacking and lip-locking...just serenity, punctuated by the occasional "slurp" when one of the babies gets recycled.

When you give something away for free...all too often it is considered worthless by the giftee...and treated accordingly.

It'll be a gamechanger for you: a tank that isn't full of fish that only take time out from fighting with each other to breed!

Because...I would bet folding money that a significant percentage of those fish, given free of charge to PetCo, will end up as feeders...and they will be fed live (regardless of what they tell you...).

Hmm. So

I should buy a tank and whole new setup for a fish I could care less about, just so he/she can eat the babies.
Not to mention being stuck with another unwanted fish to get rid of.

So just kill hundreds of fish I raised just to feed them out? I ain't wired like that. That would be an extreme last resort.

A lot of the babies are half grown, and there are jumbos. I doubt they'd be looked at the same as goldfish feeders.

Maybe some are being fed out by Petco, maybe not. Being eaten at a pet store is the same as being eaten at home.

The other 2 stores I donated to have employees who took some fish home. All 3 locations are 'fish people' and know their stuff. They asked me a lot of questions. Fish also get donated to schools or are sold.

Did I mention I worked in a pet store in animal care?

Predators only get frustrated chasing these fish. They'll get some, but only in really close quarters with most of the water drained out.

I hung around for the initial setup at the other 2 stores and offered suggestions. Had nice convos about fish. Some of the employees have their own fishrooms.

In regards to that 'other' tank, it's really pretty quiet because a certain Oscar has blocked all nuisances inside their logs. To eat they have to go out the back way or root through plants into the open.

And so, I can only conclude that your original argument is
