i was wandering what you guys would do? my red bay snook has swim bladder disease. when he swims his ass off he can get down to the bottom but when he stop swimming hes like a bobber and and floats straight to the top with his dorsal fin and about 3/4 inch of his back sticking out of the top of the water. i tried melaifix for the hell of it knowing it wouldnt help. from what i have read all over this site swim blatter is almost a death sentence but ive also read that a very small percentage have survived just by given them time. mine has been like this for a few weeks now and im not sure to just leave him be or to pull him out and cut his head off ending misery. not quite sure what to do here seeing this is the first case of this ive seen in my 10 yrs of fishkeeping. thanks.

Isn't there a way you can puncture the swim bladder and release the pressure allowing the fish to swim normally? I know this is risky but if your fish is suffering already it might be worth a shot.
Peas are the only thing I know of. I have tried it on numerous goldfish with
much success. I dont know how it would be with a snook though. I don't see why it would be much different. I dont know if he'd eat them though. Hand feed him if you have to.
A needle to the gut would be last resort.

my girlfriends parents used the pea trick and it sorted the fish right out (some cold water species), from what they said they are supposed to be shelled

no hes still doing the same as before. wont eat peas. but eats all of his regular food that hes been on forever. im going to give it some more time and then maybe try the needle.Camshaft Ramrod;2347301; said:
